3-Ingredient Banana Ice Cream

Frozen bananas blended until smooth produce something with the texture of soft-serve ice cream. This is not a health food conspiracy โ€” it genuinely works. The bananas need to be very ripe and very frozen, and you need a food processor or a powerful blender. Everything else is optional.

What You Need

  • 3 large ripe bananas, peeled, sliced, and frozen overnight
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter, or any nut butter
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, optional but recommended

How to Make It

    Freeze banana slices in a single layer on a parchment-lined sheet for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

    Add frozen bananas to a food processor. Blend, stopping to scrape down the sides, for 3โ€“4 minutes. The bananas will go from crumbly to creamy โ€” keep going past the crumbly stage.

    Add peanut butter and cocoa powder and blend another 30 seconds. Serve immediately as soft-serve or freeze another hour for a firmer scoop.
