4-Ingredient Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Pulled pork is one of the most rewarding things you can make in a slow cooker, and also one of the most forgiving. It requires almost no skill, feeds a crowd for very little money, and the leftovers are arguably better than the first serving. The hands-on time is ten minutes. The oven does the rest.

What You Need

  • 3 lb pork shoulder, also sold as pork butt
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tsp each garlic powder, paprika, and salt

How to Make It

  1. 1

Mix brown sugar and spices together. Pat the pork shoulder dry and rub the spice mixture all over, pressing it in.

  2. 2

Place pork in the slow cooker. Pour BBQ sauce over and around it. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 5 hours until the meat pulls apart easily when pressed with a fork.

  3. 3

Remove pork and shred with two forks, discarding large pieces of fat. Return the shredded meat to the cooker and stir into the juices. Serve on buns with coleslaw.
