5-Ingredient Beef Tacos
Ground beef tacos have been made a million times, which makes it very easy to do them badly. The difference between forgettable and genuinely good comes down to two things: how you brown the meat, and whether you char the tortillas. Both take 30 extra seconds and both are worth it.
What You Need
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 tsp each cumin and chili powder
- 1 cup salsa
- 8 corn tortillas
- 1 lime
- fresh cilantro to serve
How to Make It
- 1
Heat a skillet over high heat until very hot. Add ground beef and spread it into a single layer โ don't stir. Let it sit undisturbed for 2 minutes to develop browning, then break it up and cook through.
- 2
Drain most of the fat. Add spices and salsa, stir to combine, and simmer 5 minutes until the sauce thickens and clings to the meat.
- 3
Warm tortillas directly on a gas burner or in a dry hot pan until lightly charred in spots. Fill with beef and top with cilantro and a squeeze of lime.
